I have been using Dowelmax joinery for several years now. Recently I was making an outdoor dining table that required “invisible” joinery. It involved attaching an end to the center of the mating face. The end side of the joint was simple. The challenge was getting the 4×1/2″ dowels centered in the face of a 5.5 inch board. A little thought and some careful clamping and all four leg joints came out perfectly. I am no loner afraid of dowels as the Dowelmax makes the joinery come out perfectly every time. I’ve only made one project, a base for my 8″ jointer. I was amazed at the precision of this when it went together. I made a couple of mistakes along the way, but I’m learning to use this new tool and I see it will have many uses in future projects. The 3/8″ classic is a must as well, I like having the option of the beefier 1/2″ dowels for bigger projects.

I am very impressed with the level of functionality with the ‘Dowelmax 1/2 Drill Guide Package’. I used the 1/2 Drill Guide to accurately line up and position a 2″ thick book matched black walnut credenza top 25″ wide by 33042 ” long. Perfect results. No more ‘end clamping’ to align surfaces. Skip the planer and go straight to the sander.
The Dowelmax 1/2 along with the Dowelmax Classic 3/8 has found a permanent place in my shop. Now my designs incorporate the precision of the ‘Dowelmax’ joinery system. Production time is much faster on long heavy workpieces compared to conventional mortise and tenon joinery. Good job Dowelmax!
